About Us
Tender Hearts Ministries is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization consisting of Tender Hearts Community Outreach & Thrift Store & the Tender Hearts House of Hope (women's shelter). Our focus is on providing food, clothing, and shelter to needy individuals in the York County community.

Our History
In June 2004, Ainslee House became burdened to work with abused teen girls and through the support of her church and other community leaders she sought to open Tender Hearts Girls’ Home. Tender Hearts Girls’ Home was incorporated on March 17, 2005. During that time the state of South Carolina introduced new legislation prohibiting the establishment of new children’s homes, so through much prayer and the support of the Tender Hearts Board of Directors, the decision was made to open a Community Outreach to minister to the food and clothing needs of the York County Community. To provide for the costs of this endeavor the decision was made to open the Tender Hearts Thrift Store. Tender Hearts Girls’ Home Inc received it’s 501(c)3 status on January 6, 2006. On January 7, 2007 the Tender Hearts Thrift Store and Community Outreach opened its doors in a leased 460 square foot building in downtown York. The outpouring of donations from the community was so great we were forced to move into a bigger building (1500 sq. ft.) on 4/1/06. Community and church support continued to increase as well as overflowing donations and again we were forced to move into our current 10,500 square foot building.

With the motto of: "Keeping a Tender Heart towards those in need", Executive Director, Ainslee House became burdened for the growing number of homeless/abused women/children in the York County community. After much prayer and support by the community, God provided another building and the first ever women’s shelter was opened in the city of York on 9/7/07. In the first 3 months of operations, the shelter was able to help 21 women/children with food, shelter, job training, education (GED), and assistance with finding long-term housing.
