Psalm 28:7 -"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped."
Tender Hearts House of Hope also has a 24-month transitional housing program for the women who graduate our 9-month shelter program. During these 24-months, our woman continue to receive Biblical counseling, go to church, and grow financially and independently. This program allows the women to know what it is like to take care of themselves by living on their own.
Women with children are among the fastest growing homeless groups in the United States. Domestic violence, poverty, abandonment, lack of affordable housing and low wage jobs all contribute to this mounting problem. In keeping with our motto of “keeping a tender heart towards those in need” Tender Hearts House of Hope women’s shelter was opened on September 7, 2007 to address the needs of homeless women and children in York County.
Tender Hearts House of Hope is a 9-month shelter program designed to give a fresh perspective on life and develop job skills that will enable them to better support their families. Tender Hearts provides a clean and safe shelter for women (and their children--girls any age and boys 10 years of age and under only), food, clothing, Biblical counseling, assistance achieving GED, financial management instruction, job training, and hope for a better life. Tender Hearts ministers to struggling women and children within North and South Carolina with a focus on York County.
Tender Hearts House of Hope has two overarching goals: 1) to provide temporary shelter, food and clothing to women and children in crisis 2) to provide counseling, education, and job training to empower women to get off the welfare system and thrive in today’s economic environment.
